Contemporary Works for Voice and Harp:
Mezzo-soprano Amanda Crider, Soprano Nola Richardson and harpist Parker Ramsay collaborate to present a program of contemporary works for voice and harp featuring as a centerpiece the premiere of a new large-scale work by composer Gregory Spears whose music has been called "astonishingly beautiful" (The New York Times). Spears’ work is based on Franz Kafka’s short story: The Next Village and acts as a musical depiction of the telescoping of time that the story describes. Ramsay, whose playing has been described as “relentlessly beautiful” (WQXR) and “remarkably special” (Gramophone), and Crider, with “gleaming vocalism” (Boston Globe) are the perfect storytellers for Spears’ brand new piece. All three musicians will be featured throughout the program for performances of works by Nico Muhly, Sarah Kirkland Snider, and other star contemporary composers that delve into the puzzles of life and the mind.
